Installing a content center file (.idcl) in autodesk inventor

Installing a "Content Center" file in Autodesk Inventor is not a daily engineers job. 
But it's really easy!
In just a few steps you can use all the advantages of the Autodesk Content Center system and add your own (Wyalo) CAD libraries.

Ready for use in 4 easy steps:
Step 1: Copy the Content Center  file.

Go to your download folder and copy the downloaded Content Center .idcl file (Ctrl+c).
Step 2: Locate the folder where your local Content Centers are stored.

  • Open Autodesk Inventor
  • Click the Inventor Symbol on the left top of screen.
  • Click "Manage".
  • Click "Projects".
  • Select a project and click "Configure Content Center Libraries".
  • Now you can easily detect the folder where your Content Center files are stored. It's in top of the pop-up screen.
  •  Click the link and paste the .idcl file into this folder (Ctrl+v).

Step 3: Update the library.

The file is now visible in the “Confige Libraries” screen. If your version of Autodesk Inventor is newer than the library file, you will see an exclamation mark. This means, the library has to be updated to the newer version. 

  • Click the “Update Tool” button.

 The following screens appear.

  • Click "Next" (four times).
  • Click "Close"

Step 4: Close the configuration and test the library.


  • The library is now ready for use. Click "OK".
  • Click "Done" and close the Projects tab.
  • Test the library by clicking "Open" and "Open from Content Center".
